Modulating Microclimates
Architectural Design, 2019-20
An exploration into the worlds of warmth and energy in the Central Library, fuelled by an aspiration towards making sustainability more accessible to the people of Edinburgh.
Intensive fieldwork and research were undertaken in investigating the networks of water and energy. Though largely invisible, they play a cardinal role in the running of the building, as well as the wider city. The themes of control and privilege emerged through my findings, shaping my ideas for my design proposition.
My design proposition aims to bring sustainability to the masses through the conversion of spaces in the Library, where various scales and levels of environmental education can take place.
